You know living in Melbourne, there are a few weatherboard houses about. I even live in one. Because of all of this, we’ve painted lots and lots or weatherboard houses. We are the Weatherboard Painters because of it! Each weatherboard we paint, so develops our skills and improves our knowledge. Whilst they look similar, no two are the same!

Don’t get WeatherBoard Painting!

    Painted Front Doors. Melbourne

What’s in a painted front door? What does you front door say about you? Say goodbye to the Black front door, now that was over so long ago, but some people forgot to mention that to some other people and it lasted too darn long. Sterling Painters Melbourne know this.

Colour is so much more of a statement than black. Black says Number 10 Downing Street. Full stop. Colour says who you are, what you are, where you’re going, when you’re at and how you’ve made a statement. Unless you’re the Prime Minister of England then black is good!

Remember – Reason, Season, Lifetime. And go for it.

Oh just in case you don’t know, with painted front doors, Lilac, No!

Season, Reason, Lifetime – New Paint Colour

If, or when, you get bored, painting over a front door is easy. It’s not like painting your entire house. You can do it on a whim, as fashion dictates, seasonally. Life sometimes moves on, and so should your front door. What fulfilled your needs last year, may not do this year. Move on. Don’t look back. Get a colour chart, be brave, put a pin in it. Call us, Sterling Painters, and we’ll paint over that ghastly colour from last year.

    Detailed Painting Quotes

Now let me get this right you’re going to give a man lots of money for a figure on a piece of scrap paper! Where’s your Painting Quotes?

Or here’s the one I love, he’s got a calculator and punched in some numbers, taken a deep sharp intake of breath, and shows it to you looking disgusted in the opposite direction, tutting!

Here’s what HAS to be on a painting quote:

    Contractors complete details. i.e.
    Name
    Address
    Home phone
    Mobile phone
    ABN

    Clients full details, that’s you.

    All Painting Quotes should include:

    1.  Scope of works. This clearly identifies items to be painted i.e. walls, ceiling, windows, doors etc

    2.  Specification. This section identifies areas such as the Preparation required i.e. Sanding, filling of holes and indentations. The quote should also state if previous coatings need to be removed to obtain a sound surface before repainting and does the surface need to be washed down? i.e kitchen, wood work etc
This section should also include the number of coats to be applied, type of paint to be
Used, colour required, and the selected gloss level.

    3.  Exclusions. This section identifies what is not to be painted and is just as important as the Scope of Works.

    4.  Insurance. Contractors must have Public Liability and Personnel Accident Insurance.
This is for your protection in case something goes wrong.

It is important that you sight their current Certificate of Compliance.

    5.  GST. Must be included in the final quotation amount

    What is a Professional Painter?

What is a professional painter? Now there’s a question!

Neat and tidy or looking like a can of paint has exploded over them! In my mind the answer is simple, if the painter has paint all over them then chances are there’s paint all over your house, and not just the bits you wanted painted!

Surely if you want a neat and tidy paint job you employ the neat and tidy painter. It’s your house. Simple.

However, there is a bit more to it than that:

Unfortunately Painting is a career that most people think they can simple just do. I walked passed Bunnings once – therefore I’m a painter!

Qualifications and Experience really do matter, as in any business. You should always check on these things. Ask the questions.

Now I’m a member of the Master Painters Association, which means I have to be Qualified, Experienced and Insured…

Insurance: Now the thing with life, stuff does happen that you didn’t want to! Insurance means it’s much less hassle. See first paragraph for example.

    Painting Weatherboard Exterior

As weatherboard exterior painters, we never tire of painting weatherboards. Whilst they all look similar, no two are the same, they all have their own personalities, does this have something to do with the owner?

This weatherboard house was no exception to the rule. The rule being preparation and yet more preparation. Sanding, more sanding. Filling and gapping, sometimes we even get to paint!! Usually, with painting a weatherboard house, the preparation takes longer than the painting. Why? Because this is the ‘rule’!

How your home looks is a reflection of you. A well painted house, and well kept house, tells the world what you think of yourself. We paint many sorts and styles of weatherboard houses. From the classic and grown up weatherboard, with black painted front doors, to the cheerful cottage, with bright friendly colours. How do you see your weatherboard house painted? What will the paint colour scheme say about you? Are you as stylish as this weatheboard house owner?

    Weathered Board?

Weatherboard paint, where? This is a good chance to show a before and after shot. A weatherboard rather in need of a little tender love and care, and paint. The pictures really do show you what can be accomplished by Professional Exterior House Painters

This side of the house really takes everything the weather can throw at it. Sun, rain and hail, and as so the emphasis was on protecting the property rather than just making it look  good. If you live in a weatherboard house, then you know the savings that come with a professional paint job. Because maintainance cost, heating costs, cooling costs, really add up. Try selling a weatherboard house in such a state. Or worse still. A weatherboard house that’s been given a ‘quick lick of paint’. You’ll find out the costs/savings that come with a professional paint job.

Weatherboard Paint – House Preparation and Painting

All the boards were primed, where needed, all the nail holes filled, all the gaps underneath the weatherboards were gapped, and the window sills were given multiple coats of paint.

Oh and yes sanding took place between every coat, why? It promotes adhesion. So using a premium quality exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield,  and other premium painters’ products will give this house longevity.

    Paints Used:

    • Weathershield semi-gloss – Warm Natural
    • Weathershield gloss – Whisper White
