    Painting Weatherboard Exterior

As weatherboard exterior painters, we never tire of painting weatherboards. Whilst they all look similar, no two are the same, they all have their own personalities, does this have something to do with the owner?

This weatherboard house was no exception to the rule. The rule being preparation and yet more preparation. Sanding, more sanding. Filling and gapping, sometimes we even get to paint!! Usually, with painting a weatherboard house, the preparation takes longer than the painting. Why? Because this is the ‘rule’!

How your home looks is a reflection of you. A well painted house, and well kept house, tells the world what you think of yourself. We paint many sorts and styles of weatherboard houses. From the classic and grown up weatherboard, with black painted front doors, to the cheerful cottage, with bright friendly colours. How do you see your weatherboard house painted? What will the paint colour scheme say about you? Are you as stylish as this weatheboard house owner?

Dulux Popular Exterior Paint Colour Schemes Here to give you a few ideas, but if you have a strong idea already, go with it.

    Lime Washing Over Another Decade

A bright orange varnished ceiling, showing the dated look of the extension. Making the ceiling look as if it were just a metre or so above your head. Well something has to be done! Lime washing. What would we as Interior House Painters do?

The customers originally wanted the ceiling painted white, however this would mean every crack inbetween the panels would show. We recommended painting a white wash or a lime wash to calm down the wooden panels instead and the customers were happy to go with this.

One of our problems was, we had was the wooden panels. Which were originally varnished with an oiled based varnish. That means we had to apply an oil based product too, because oil and water don’t mix. White wash and Lime Wash usually are acylic (water-based)! Taking advice from the PaintSpot paintshop, we used a ‘lime wash’ formula and tinted up an oil based varnish.

    Painting Techniques

Random is very hard to achive. We have to apply the varnish evenly, and because it’s varnish we have to apply it by brush and not by roller. Using a roller would even out the lime wash into a opaque liquid, which is not a good look anyway. So we brushed this ceiling by hand, three times!

    Wallpaper Hanging and Wallpaper Hangers

A good way to sell wallpaper is to hang wallpaper in your showroom, sounds obvious, and this is one of my favourite wallpapers. It really shows what is out there and how wallpaper has developed over the past few years. As interior painters, this is something we have a lot of experience of.

Yes wallpaper is classic, and it is retro, but it’s also modern and is at the forefront of design. Everything from the classic flock, through to murials, and specially printed designs of images you’ve provided. You could even have your favourite image of your cat made into wallpaper, if that’s what you want.

Graphical prints are getting more and more popular, reinventing classic designs, as here , and turning pop culture and graffiti into something that comes in rolls. Wallpaper hanging is proving to be very cool at the moment.

    Wallpaper Installation

And still, wallpaper hanging has it’s own set of problems. And it won’t disguise a badly plastered wall either! Some cheaper wallpapers are waffer thin and have no backing. Expensive ones are individually hand printed. And patterns and colours don’t match even within the same roll. Because of these problems, amongst others, I find wallpaper hanging can be very difficult. And as so, I wouldn’t recommend a novice attempting it.

    Interior House  Painting

Interior House Painting, not only painters, but much more. The owner chose the paint colours based upon a recently purchased painting. The room simply had to go with her new acquisition. Well you can always repaint a room, a good piece of art will last a lifetime! That’s what we as Interior House Painters do.

House Painting, takes a little more than just painting the interior of your house. Most importantly it’s your home that’s getting painted. We treat your home like our own homes, why? Because it’s your home and not a building site. We’ll take care of not just the painting, but your belongings.

Yes, we do ask you to remove the delicate and expensive items. We do ask you to get your home ready for the painters. Whilst we can usually help with the bigger furniture items, we are not removalists, because we would like to get on with the painting.

    Customer Quote:

“Chris was great to work with again! Nothing was too much trouble, including repainting the lounge room twice when I changed my mind about the colour. What I’m most impressed with though is the quality of the job that Chris does – his attention to detail is fantastic. I’m a repeat customer and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sterling Painters.”

    Weathered Board?

Weatherboard paint, where? This is a good chance to show a before and after shot. A weatherboard rather in need of a little tender love and care, and paint. The pictures really do show you what can be accomplished by Professional Exterior House Painters

This side of the house really takes everything the weather can throw at it. Sun, rain and hail, and as so the emphasis was on protecting the property rather than just making it look  good. If you live in a weatherboard house, then you know the savings that come with a professional paint job. Because maintainance cost, heating costs, cooling costs, really add up. Try selling a weatherboard house in such a state. Or worse still. A weatherboard house that’s been given a ‘quick lick of paint’. You’ll find out the costs/savings that come with a professional paint job.

Weatherboard Paint – House Preparation and Painting

All the boards were primed, where needed, all the nail holes filled, all the gaps underneath the weatherboards were gapped, and the window sills were given multiple coats of paint.

Oh and yes sanding took place between every coat, why? It promotes adhesion. So using a premium quality exterior paint such as Dulux Weathershield,  and other premium painters’ products will give this house longevity.
